Chiesa di San Lorenzo
1910
The church of S. Lorenzo, of medieval origin, enjoys a splendid position on the western shore of Lake Como. The building was subsequently enlarged around the end of the 19th century, according to the project of the architect Alfonso Perrocchetti. The new church built with Moltrasio stone, in an eclectic style, was decorated in the early twentieth century by the painter Luigi Tagliaferri. In the foreground, a Lucia, a historic Larian boat, already used in the 15th century. These classic boats can still be admired during the historic parade at the San Giovanni festival. It is one of the oldest events on Lake Como, where the looting and burning of Isola Comacina is re-enacted. The event takes place every year in June in Ossuccio.
